The European Union: a fascinating experiment in turbulent times.

Europe, that is France and Germany. The rest is decoration. So said former President of France Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970). This French-German empire is now called the European Union (EU) and is one of the most fascinating experiments in the history of politics and state formation.
