Look on the world
The most impressive satellite photos!
Nearly 1,750 active satellites orbit the Earth and more than 300 of them take photos of the surface. Thanks to those razor-sharp images, you can view almost any place in the world from above via Google Earth. KIJK, together with Fontaine Uitgevers, brought together the most special satellite photos in the book 'KIJK on the world'. Among the more than sixty photos you will find: the beautiful lines of the Spanish wine region Condado de Huelva, the beauty of a tire dump, a mysterious postage stamp in China, the symmetrical wetlands of North Dakota, and the blubber volcano on Java.
"Years ago, someone at KIJK Magazine came up with the brilliant idea of illustrating an article with a satellite photo from Google Earth. While searching for that photo, it turned out that there are many more beautiful satellite images of special places on earth. Enough to please the readers of KIJK will surprise you every month for ten years. It is also a double anniversary, because KIJK itself has also been around for fifty years. All in all, it is an excellent opportunity to share the photos and interesting stories with the rest of the world That is why we have brought together the sixty most remarkable photos of our planet in this beautifully bound (coffee table) book." - André Kesseler, Editor-in-Chief KIJK Magazine
