Owls must be one of the most mysterious bird families in our country! Most hunt at night while during the day they are hidden in the woods or in a special cupboard in or near a barn. A beautiful sighting of an owl in the Netherlands is therefore always special! And because it is so special, we have organized a weekend specifically intended to see and photograph owls. Six species of owls breed in the Netherlands: Long-eared Owl, Tawny Owl, Short-eared Owl, Little Owl, Barn Owl and Eagle Owl, the latter being the largest of them all. We attempt to see most of them in one weekend, and to do so we visit the east and south of our country.
