Contents of this online training

Welcome

In this first session you will be provided with everything you need to make the training a success. You will also meet child psychologist and educator Tischa Neve, who will guide you during the training with fun videos and audios.

Perfect parents don't exist

In this session you will give up the idea that there is only one way to be 'a good mother' or 'a good father'. Because who says what is good? It's about giving your child the space to develop. And that also gives you more relaxation and freedom.

Together as a team

Investigate which basic rules about parenting you and your (ex)partner apply and what you sometimes discuss. Based on this, you will make a list of basic agreements that you both agree on and you will receive tips on how to implement them consistently.

Attention for your child

The attention you give ensures good contact and a loving connection with your child. And that is very important for his development. But how do you find enough time and peace for this? You will learn that in this session.

Rest, routines and regularity

'Regularity' may sound a bit boring. But the clearer the structure of your day is for your child, the easier it will be. For example, with routines and regularity you can make the morning and evening rush hour much more relaxed.

Take care of yourself

Many parents tend to put aside their own need for rest and relaxation. But as a father or mother, you need moments when you recharge and take a break from your family and work. In this session you will learn to put yourself first every now and then.

Communicate positively

Positive communication is not: praising your child for everything he does. That will make you tired and your child a little lazy. But with targeted compliments and a positive approach, you can contribute a lot to your child's development.

Manage your own emotions

Children can evoke all kinds of emotions in you with their behavior. But not only their behavior, you yourself and what you have experienced also play a role. Your emotions are triggered by this. This session is about recognizing those triggers and how you can respond to them in a good way.

Become your child's emotion coach

Perhaps you have learned in the past to put emotions away: don't cry, don't act jealous, don't show that you are afraid... A lot of research has now been done on emotions that shows that it is better to give them space. And this also applies to your child's emotions, although he does need your coaching.

This is how you make agreements and rules

Agreements and rules are necessary in every family. But what exactly is the difference and what do you do if your child does not comply? That's what this session is about. And also about how you can celebrate together when things are going well.

Setting boundaries without punishment

"You go and have a blast in the hallway." Or: 'You won't get dessert if you keep going like this.' We usually set limits for our children by punishing them. But such a measure appears not to be a good idea for several reasons. How do you indicate that your child has crossed a border?

Restrict screens

No matter how fun gaming or 'Insta' is, it affects, among other things, your child's sleep, social-emotional development and health. In this session you will learn more about those risks and what screen rules and agreements you can make.

A social child

Friends are important to a child. If your son or daughter has little connection with other children or often argues, it is logical that you are concerned about this. This session is about social behavior in children and what your role can be in this.

Finally

You have arrived at the final session of this online Relaxed Parenting course. A great moment to look back and see where you are now compared to the first session. What did you learn? What goals have you achieved? With one last message from Tischa.
