Less tired, more energy
Less tired, more energy
Content of this online training about fatigue
Many people are tired, but the underlying cause of this differs per individual. It may be part or a consequence of a chronic condition, such as long-term pain complaints, cancer treatment or the aftermath of Covid, also known as long Covid or post-Covid. But fatigue complaints can also occur without a demonstrable cause. Annemarieke Fleming explains how this is possible in this session.
Our fatigue is largely due to the fact that we are in action mode too much (and for too long). In this session you will learn what happens in your body and brain when you are 'on' and discover the 4 pillars of the stress response system. This system helps you stay healthy, but can also break down if it is 'on' for a long time. You discover whether this system is too active for you.
With a broken leg it is clear that rest and recovery is necessary, but with persistent fatigue this is much more complex. However, the latest research has made it increasingly clear that fatigue can be demonstrated. Although it remains difficult to listen to it and act on it. In this session you will learn how to do that.
You try everything, but you just stay tired. How did that happen? In this podcast you will learn why your reserves are depleted, how you can recognize this and how you can recharge your battery.
In her work with pain patients, Annemarieke developed the 'Building up reserves' method. In this session she explains how her method works. You will immediately find out why you sleep poorly, despite being tired.
'I shouldn't need this at all', or 'let me finish this before I lie down'. Logical and recognizable thoughts, which often cause automatic and unhelpful behavior when you want to tackle your fatigue. You will learn which vicious circle you can end up in due to these thoughts and how you can break it.
You are consciously working on building in recovery moments and building up your reserves. Can you now ask yourself the question: what gives me energy? And what exactly consumes energy? Then you can look for your balance. What are you going to cancel and which appointments or sports lessons are you charging for?
What else can you do to improve your energy levels and sleep? In addition to rest, exercise also has a significant effect on your mood. You will hear all about it in the podcast of this last session. And spoiler alert : 11 minutes of walking a day already helps!
