This online training, based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), is for anyone who wants to have a more relaxed approach to life. You will learn to deal better with negative emotions and become acquainted with mindfulness. If you can feel what is there and let go of control, your life becomes lighter. Contents of this online training
What do you carry with you?
You will meet expert Gijs Jansen and receive an explanation about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Then you identify your own struggles and obstacles.
Mindful living
During this session you will be introduced to mindfulness: this helps you to be gentler and live more in 'the now'.
To flee
We often do everything to avoid feeling our pain, fears and insecurities. Those are our control strategies. Which one do you recognize?
Avoidance behavior
In the previous session you thought about how to avoid difficult feelings. This time you will use a (digital) diary to see what this looks like in practice.
Distance from your thoughts
You analyze your diary and learn what you can do instead of avoid.
Need for control
As humans, we have an enormous need for control. You examine what you have done to control frustration, sadness or fear, and what that has cost you.
Live according to your law book
You investigate which rules are in your 'law book; stand and creates space by breaking some rules.
Everyone has fears
Living lighter also means living with less fear. You will practice experiencing anxious feelings without resisting them or trying to run away from them.
Choose with dedication
Imagine that we are now standing together at a crossroads and that it is time to choose an exit. Do you continue to fight, seek and avoid control, or do you experience?
Be prepared
Value-oriented living means that you actively put your life at the service of what has value to you. That you make meaningful, inspiring life choices. What are your values?
Dreams and goals
What is your main dream? In this session you will break it down into small, achievable steps. You will also investigate to what extent you can bring your values together with your dreams in order to live more based on your values.
Take space
Sometimes it seems as if we devote half our lives to the service of others. Many people find it difficult to give space to their own desires and to think about themselves. Are you willing to take what you give?
